In the trade, erotic massage is the name studios give to a slow massage of the whole body, done in a quiet private room with low light, warm oil and time to spare. Hanoi studios from Hoan Kiem to Cau Giay

Hanoi has the longest list on this page, spread across the old centre and the western districts. In Hoan Kiem, Lingam Massage Hoan Kiem sits on Trang Tien and lists erotic, sensual, tantra and lingam, with no hours published. Vip Massage Eva publishes no area and no hours, but its menu is the only one in the city naming four hands, alongside sensual, nuru and tantra. That makes Hanoi the city with the widest choice of erotic massage styles on the page.

Saigon from District 1 to Thao Dien

Saigon's studios sit in several districts rather than one cluster. In District 1, Venus Massage is on Pham Ngu Lao and lists erotic, sensual and tantra, and Massage Nuru District 1 lists nuru; neither publishes hours. If you want an erotic massage in District 1 without leaving your room, these two are the ones to contact.

Da Nang, Can Tho and Hai Phong

Da Nang has three listings. Massage Nuru Da Nang comes to your hotel, works every day 10:00 to 02:00 and lists sensual, nuru, body to body, tantra, lingam and four hands, the fullest erotic massage menu in the city. The other two are at My Khe beach, the strip of hotels along the sea: Luci massage, which names no style, and Massage Nuru Đà Nẵng My Khe, which lists nuru. Neither publishes hours, so message before walking over.

Can Tho has one studio. Massage So 1 Can Tho is in Ninh Kieu, the central district by the river, opens every day 10:00 to 23:00 and lists sensual. It answers by phone and through its website.

Hai Phong also has one. MassageClub193 is in Hai An, lists erotic, sensual and tantra, publishes no hours and answers by phone and website. It is the only erotic massage listing in the port city.

That is the whole list outside Hanoi and Saigon. In a city with a single listing, ask the studio directly about hours and styles before you plan an evening around it.

Studio room or hotel room: the first visit

At a studio, you arrive, are shown to a room and are offered a shower before the session starts. The room usually has a massage table or a mat, towels, low light and a separate washing area. Payment and the length of the session are settled before you begin, so nothing has to be discussed once the massage is under way.

A hotel visit runs the same way in your own hotel room. The therapist brings oil and towels, you shower first, and the bed or a towel on the floor serves as the table. Check that your hotel lets visitors up to rooms, and have the room number and your name ready when you book.

When you write to book an erotic massage, keep it short and ask three things:

• the length of the session, and which lengths the menu offers;
• what the session includes, using the style names the studio itself lists;
• the price in dong, for that length and style, and whether a hotel visit costs more.
